A legacy in equestrian excellence that began in 1974 with the importation of the mare Bloomers (sired by Floribunda out of Duliket). This pivotal event is hailed as maybe of the most significant in Swedish thoroughbred history. However, the story truly started earlier, rooted in Kjell Sjöberg's lifelong passion for thoroughbred breeding and racing.
With a career spanning decades, Kjell has served as secretary of the Swedish Thoroughbred Breeding Association (SFAF) and contributed to the development of auction catalogs as early as the 1950s. His journey into horse ownership began in 1957 with his first horse, Rayborn, and flourished with the acquisition of Bloomers in 1974. Bloomers went on to produce two exceptional mares, Filibloom and Bloomigunda, who laid the foundation for remarkable bloodlines.
One of Kjell's proudest achievements was a "foal sharing" collaboration with Coolmore Stud's John Magnier, leading to Filibloom’s pairing with the legendary El Gran Senor, Europe's finest racehorse of his generation. This partnership brought the extraordinary Yankee Bloom to Sweden, leaving an indelible mark on Swedish breeding.
Among Kjell's celebrated horses are Bloomerace, the 1995 Swedish Derby winner, and Tertio Bloom, the first Swedish-bred horse to win in Dubai. These champions, alongside countless others, highlight Kjell's meticulous approach to bloodline strategies, including his emphasis on the Miswaki/Allegretta lineage that connects his horses to champions like Galileo and Sea The Stars.
His achievements include an impressive record in the Swedish Derby, with horses placing in positions 1-5 across five races.
